Getting the Hang of It!

5/18/07

So we seem to be settling in to our new schedules quite well now. Our house is finally STARTING to look normal again - a little messy but nothing a half hour won't cure. The dryer is finally fixed, well the landlord just bought a brand new one to replace the one the can't dry worth @$%#!!! So we can finally do our laundry again.

MariaH has had a cold the last few days but hopefully it's on it's way out now. It has been kind of hard not letting her get too close to Jimi. She blows her kisses and hugs to him. Having Jimi around has made me realize exactly how much she has grown. She's not even my little baby anymore - she's like a kid! LOL well I know she is a kid but it's weird to think of her like that. She knows how to spell her name and she is working on our home phone number too. She is also quite the smart bum... like the other day: We have matching outfits & we both put on our pants and then she put on her shirt and I put on a different shirt. She asked me "Mom, how come you're not wearing your pink shirt?" I said, "Because I don't want to." she replies, "Fine Then!" So see she's not the sweet and inncocent little girl people think she is. At least not all the time. :)

Lil Jimi is almost sleeping through the entire night on most nights. He sometimes softly cry's for his binki but falls right back to sleep as soon as I can pry myself outta bed to give it to him. He falls alseep around 9 or 10 and then sleeps usually until about 6am but sometimes a little later. So I guess I'm lucky! :) He is also doing a lot better at breast these days which I am very thankful for! He's growing fast too.... I know I know... this is nothing new to all my "already mommy's for ages" girls in my family but cheese & rice - they grow a lot faster than I ever imagined.

Anyway, it's friday. I am in the best of moods (knock on wood), and yea. It's a good day! Here's some more pictures of my kiddo's. Some are a little blurry :)

Harder Than I Imagined

5/2/07

Having two at home is really not as simple as I thought. I mean, trust me I knew it would be hrder than having one... but I guess it's just having two and one of them being an infant. An infant who may be just starting to come into his "Colic" - per Doc's guess. He just hasn't been sleeping like he was when he first came home and he has been a bit more fussy as well. Plus he's been gumming his bottles a lot more rather than actually drinking the milk. The milk just dribbles down his chin for the most part. I dunno what him's thinkin'. Still my kids are both beautiful little miracles and it's all worth it!

I just found these two pics on my cell phone. They must have been taken by one of my sisters. It's Tom & I right before going into C-section to deliver Lil' Jimi. I look a lot happier than I felt. I was still having contractions complete with back labor at this point.

Here's some more recent ones of both my babies. Notice that Jimi has his mama's hair especially right after getting out of the bath. So curly & Cute.

It's about time!

4/21/07

So, I am actually writing this on 4/27/07.... but oh well.... I just wanted to update everyone and let ya'll know that he is home! Here's some pics.

Jimi weighed 8lbs 3.5oz & 20" long when he came home last saturday. He had his check up the following Monday & he had gained 4.5oz making him 8lbs 8oz. Today he had another appt and he weighed in at 9lbs 0.5oz & 20 3/8" long. He's growing so freakin fast!

Mariah absolutely loves having Jimi home and she has been the biggest best helper ever! I caould not be more happy. I have both of my babies home now & I can't even explain how great it is to be a mother of two! I am seriously very blessed & oh so greatful.

Also, to Thomas, when your read this I just want to tell you how much I love you and appreciate everything you have done for me. You are forever the only one for me & I am so in love with you! God chose us to go through what we went through because he's knows we were & are strong enough to handle it, together! Not a lot of people could go through what we did and still be sane afterwards! But together we held on & now he's happy, healthy & home! Thank you for being strong when I wasn't & helping me through day by day!

4/18/07
Hi to all, I just heard that Jimi might be able to come home as early as this weekend. So Thomas and I have a lot to do before he comes home. We have to learn how to use the Apnea monitor he will be sent home on and what to do when it alarms. Also we have carseat safety, learning how to give him his meds and then an infant CPR class on Saturday.
I am so excited. Not only to have my family home but also to have a clean house! and a clean car too! oh yea and clean laundry!!! You know since I'll have time to do all that stuff now...
Anyways, I thank everyone for all your love & support! Love ya!

Hangin' in There

4/4/07

Hi guys, well we're all still doing alright. MariaH's been spendin' a little more time at home but now some babies at the NICU are coming down with some kind of stomach flu so no one except for the parents are allowed in, including MariaH. She doesn't really like it but hopefully it will only be a little longer before Jimi is home & then she can see him everyday. My sister, NevaeH still hasn't even met Jimi yet. No one under 12 can go in so she has only ever seen Jimi through pictures.

Baby Jimi had a blood transfusion yesterday. We are hoping that will help a lot with his Apnea spells. They also might take him off the Zantac & Reglan and start Prilosec. I don't understand why we didn't just start off with Prilosec since it's stronger and has less side effects. Plus one side effect of Zantac is shortness of breath. Why they would give medicine that causes shortness of breath to a preemie who already has breathing problems is beyond me. Anyway, hopefully the two things will stop those annoying spells. We are hoping that this transfusion in the answer to our all of our prayers. We'll just have to wait & see!

MariaH-Lee so proud to be a big sister!
I think he looks a little like me in this picture. Cutie!

He's such a little porker - he really is a "Gonzales!"

Bumps, Bumps & More Bumps

4/2/07

Hi all, Lil Jimi is still at OHSU. Another weekend came & gone. The doc's started him on yet another Reflux med on Saturday along with the Zantac. From what I have seen, it seems like it is making his Apnea spells worse. I am currently waiting on his doctor to call me & explain to me what the plans are now. Yesterday while I was feeding him he really had no interest in eating even though it had been four hours since his last feeding. He kept having spell after spell while he was trying to eat, so I stopped feeding him at 40ccs. His normal feed is 60ccs plus. I burped him & burped him, still he continued to spell. I rubbed his tummy a little bit and then stood and bounced while burping him - he let out a huge burp that seemed like it would have woke every baby in the NICU! After that he was fine & fell asleep. I wasn't about to try and feed him anymore.

When I called this morning his nurse said he has still continued to spell pretty often and that she was going to put his canula back on with just a little air flow to help him out. Now for a third time he is going to have work himself back off that again. We are so confused. We just want him to be healthy so he can come home & we can all be together like a family should be.
